when BBC4 finished its 1989 run of TOTP in the summer, will they ever broadcast any of the shows from the series most controversial decade the 1990s?it was back in october 1991 it was given a million pound makeover which was turned from a chart show into a music show with new singles and pre chart exclsives been performed live with new unknown presenters like tony dortie doing the links and got a negative response from many of its regular viewers at the time ande was done to take on 'the chart show' on ITV.by popular demand the radio 1 DJs returned to the show i think in 1995 & in 1997 it was back to been chart-based but only allow any one that is inside the top 20 performing on the programme so at that it reduced to the top 40 to the top 20 until its demise in 2006.

I was wondering if BBC4 were waiting until January 2021 to show the 1990 TOTP run as the repeats of 1989 took longer as no shows had to be skipped over.
It's either that or they are going to show three years worth over two years.

I would speculate that they are Probably not continuing due to them still saying BBC4 will be discontinued by the end of the year according to recent reports.

What would be wonderful, is if they showed a season of all the episodes found since this run began. The David Hamiltons, even some with the odd drop out. We watch these because we are huge fans, we dont care what the state of the show is, we'd just like to see it and with all this new footage being catalogued, there are going to be some true gems amongst that too. Logically the clearance rules would already have been cleared when the the shows started being shown.

"The Story Of 1990" - the worst episode yet, filmised "PAL" clips, and no mention of Scotland who also qualified for Italia 90.
Deleting from my hard drive recorder!
Not watched "Big Hits 1990" yet - are the clips filmised too?

Yes, "Big Hits 1990" was filmised.
How utterly depressing, if they don't crop & zoom, they dick about with the picture quality - if this vandalism continues with the weekly repeats, then BBC Four has lost a loyal viewer.

The picture quality was very poor with resolution issues on most of the clips. "The story of" was very poor concentrating on minor characters, giving a version of events which most people wouldn't identify with.

I didn't notice the shows on Friday were filmised to any great degree, though the picture quality Hits did look a little soft once or twice.
There were some brief lines on screen during Better The Devil you Know, but these could be on the original tape.

It must be my telly then, I checked a 1980 episode from my Freesat HD hard drive recorder & it once looked PAL, it now looks like I'm watching it on i-Player via a Nintendo Wii ! The TV is a year old Toshiba 43" UHD Tesco point of sale - model number: 43V5863DB I might have to faff about with it's settings, which vary for each HDMI connection.
