Sorry if this sounds sort of vague, but I would be very interested to know what the current status is concerning the rushes of the Python films. I am also curious to know about any "past" rushes stories(eg were some junked in the 70's etc) ?

Not sure if this is of any use to you, but there's a track called 'Otto/Otto's Song' taken from an unused scene in 'Life Of Brian' featured on the unreleased Python album 'Mony Python's Hastily Cobbled Together For A Quick Buck Album'. I think it was compiled in the early-mid eighties, so the scene must have been around at least as late as that. The track is in mono, so I assume it was taken straight from the outtake reel rather than the studio multitrack recording.

(there was a 180 min life of brian at one stage) to send overseas to the new owners the LOT was Junked.. just the master Negs of the compiled films were kept.. very very sad indeed

Sorry if this sounds a bit poncey, but that seems to me like cultural vandalism at its worst. All that material gone...............You can bet George Harrison would be turning in his grave.

Just a thought - if there are any researchers out there who may be looking for python stuff in the future - What about Olivia & Dhani Harrison?
George was probably one of the worlds BIGGEST python fans as well as bank rolling the film. I do wonder if he had any early edits of "Brian" sitting in his archive that are presently gathering dust?

Actually that sounds more than likely. I'm sure the Pythons would have wanted George to be one of the first people to see the film. I assume someone has already asked Terry Jones about it (he seems to be the 'Band Archivist', so to speak), and I'm sure someone could ask Michael Palin, as he was probably closest to George. I also can't see Olivia Harrison being offended by someone asking about it, especially as she's taken a hands-on approach to George's work since his death (albeit in a more low-key and tasteful way than Yoko Ono has with Lennon's) .

Now I think about it, when George met Olivia (around 1977/78) , she was working at Warner Brothers records and became his PR officer, so she would probably have been responsible for his day-to-day dealings and would very likely be in a very good position to know about his contacts about the Pythons.

Add to the list:
"MP live at the Hollywood Bowl" - what happened to the original recording? Parts of the show were released as film and this film was later put to DVD - you can tell by the scratches and the markings. What about the rest?
