Could you report back Richard with what you have found?
It would be interesting to know how many TV shows survive with Matt in.
thanks

Richard, I have an old VHS with at least 20 old Camay adverts from the 50s through to the 80s - it's surely worth a look on the off chance. Let me know what Matt Monro sung on the ad (I'm not familiar with his voice) and I'll have a look through them.

There seems to be some very early stuff period 1957 - 1962, then the Pebble Mill interview and 'Born free' studio version which I think is about 1978, one of the editions recorded off air. Recently a live concert from 1967 was found in Australia featuring 'Born free' from the orginal period. There's also his hit 'we're gonna change the world' from 1970, on a variety show, someone suggested possibly from 'Golden shot'. That's a B+W TR so may have been originally on colour tape.

Thanks to all here (particularly Peter).
This has now been found (after a 20 year search!)

I am delighted that this, once, very famous advert has been found.
It seemed to be one of the most prominent adverts of 1959 with a lyric that still floats about my mind every time I see the brand of soap in question.
I think the words were: "You'll look a little lovelier each day each time you use fabulous Pink Camay".
Yes, a classic television advertisement, and how it could get lost is just bizarre.
Yours,

Yours, Sometimes film libraries do get dispersed to other places though. I recall a couple trying to find an ATV schools show featuring their wedding in 1970 (THE FACTS ARE THESE); traced it to a library in North London; and also Whistle test took two years to find the Bowie 'Luv' ad. Pleased Matts until recently depleted archives are now being filled out. I think he has become under rated in recent years. Best wishes to Matts family and Richard also.

I've just acquired the last Kenny Everett Radio 1 show from 1970. He plays Matt's We're Gonna Change Our World and then proceedes to play a mix-down from the original tape; isolating the backing track and his voice, including Matt coughing his head off!
