Whilst trawling through the Youtube for old music clips, I found this rather interesting curio from 1969, it features Amen Corner performing their final hit single 'Hello Susie'. What's noticable about this performance, is that it is in colour which is undestandbly quite rare as most of their extant TV appearances are in monochrome. Of course like make any other bands and artists of the time, a good deal of their TV appearances have been wiped and junked from the archives; so they were probably other instances of this band appearing in early colour TV shows. Judging by the looks of the tape it looks like it comes from a PAL or SECAM source, although I can't recognise which European music show it comes from, perhaps someone could shed a light on this?

From 'Channelling The Beat' book:
28-05-69 – ‘Hits A Go Go’ (Switzerland): Hello Susie This is notable for being the only known surviving colour TV footage of the band.

This is notable for being the only known surviving colour TV footage of the band. Apart from Scream & Scream Again from the horror film of the same name. (I realise this isn’t TV footage but is in colour of course!)

You're right of course. I included a (black & white) screenshot in my last book 'UNTAMED YOUTH! (The Ultimate Visual Guide to 50s & 60s Rock & Pop at The Movies)'... which is a blatant plug!

Thanks for the info, I wonder how many editions of Hits A Go Go (Switzerland) survive in the archives?

Nice clip, thanks So if Hits A Go Go was broadcasting in colour as early as May 1969 then this means that the Bowie performance of "Space Oddity" (which is from November 1969 I believe) is actually a b/w tr of a colour performance? Which is a possibility that had never occurred to me before.

There is of course the performance by Fairweather of Natural Sinner on TOTP in colour with the nucleus of Amen Corner.
Their singles are pretty well represented by surviving contemporary footage apart from 'Gin House' and 'Get Back'.

In my archive, the earliest Hits a Gogo that is color is from October 2, 1968.

It seems odd that some editions of Hits a GoGo exist as b&w vt copies after the shows from 1968 onwards were recorded in colour. Were some editions recorded in monochrome between 1968-71 or are just some of the colour VT copies for some episodes missing?
The Bowie clip looks like VT so I don't think its a candidate for colour recovery.
