New series started tonight(14 June 2006), which will(if the first show is anything to go by), feature loads of classic clips.
The 1st edition dealt with David Frost.
One of the clips intrigued me. It showed Germaine Greer & future guest of HM, Jeffrey Archer.
Continuity wise, it appears it was the show transmitted the week after the 'Yippies', which was the previous clip. (I'm assuming the fact that the Greer & Archer edition was in black & white, due to the colour strike, as the 'Yippies' was in colour!)
This show was pre-recorded, presumbly (I thought initially), due to the 'Yippies' taking over the studio on the live transmision & management not wanting to risk a repeat performance, but Frost made reference to 'having received information', preventing live transmission that week (was that show a one off?).
What was the info received, as it wasn't adquately explained in the clip? (Bomb threat maybe?)
Also what's the archive status of the ITV Frosts, both Rediffusion & LWT?
Which production company was responsible for the Idi Amin show, because it was dated 1973 (I think?) & hadn't Frost left LWT by then?
(If you want to leave the thread open, to discuss the rest of the series, feel free !)
(By the way, what's this bloody security key nonsense ! )

For a wonderful moment there Westy I thought you were implying that Idi Amin had his own variety spectacular.

This was an excellent compilation - well done to ITV for once! These David Frost programmes need to be released by Network.

Oh, you should have told earlier this was on! I saw that listed on the Radio Times site but thought it was just a repeat of the ITV 50 special they repeated a while ago (and that was rubbish, 90% of it was post-1990 or so). ;D You mention a 'new series'. So there was an earlier one then? Hmm, missed that too, apparently... Slightly OT - if this is something they're hiding on a digital channel, wouldn't it be more convenient for them just to put on complete repeats? Well, won't happen I suppose.

The Idi Amin Variety Hour only went out on Border and Anglia, in 1973. It was sponsored by Watney's Party Seven.

ITV3 pulled episode 2 last night, and replaced it with a documentary about Churchill.
