Hi all.
A two-fold question really, about the soap Compact...
1) There was an episode of this screened sometime in the '90s, probably on Channel 4? Can anyone pin down what the original tx of that episode was, an episode number (if any can be known to exist for the soap opera), what the episode was about, and any other details of the '90s airing?
2) What's the archive status of the soap?

It was the second episode, "Advice to Readers" ("Compact" episodes had individual titles), first tx'd 4/1/62. The episode features a cameo appearance by Ted Willis. The only other episodes to survive complete are the omnibus repeat "Caught in the Act" tx'd 13/6/64 (compiled from the preceding week's two episodes) and the final episode "Journey's End" tx'd 30/7/65. (Additionally there are a couple of very brief fragments on the start of telerecordings of live programmes from the early 60s.) As well as the Channel 4 repeat of episode 2, the final episode was repeated on BBC4 on 27/6/04.

Amazing how little there is that survives. That second episode is just wonderful (admittedly in a so-bad-it's-good way), and I could have happily sat through the entire series probably. And I couldn't say that about many soaps!
