Three are listed as junked ( KAL) but all the rest survive.
There's more info and pictures on the "Little Gems" site.

No idea on that one, I'm afraid..not seen any of them since original broadcast.
A DVD release would not be unwelcome, though.

check out the itn archive website. More details of episodes that prove the so called only existing episode "stars" is just a myth

Yeah, most episodes survive, but "Stars", the first ep (I think) is the only one "doing the rounds" as twere.

check out the itn archive website. More details of episodes that prove the so called only existing episode "stars" is just a myth The ITN database is not an accurate indication of something existing though - it's a list of programme info that generally relates to whats in the archives. But if it were taken as gospel then it would be claiming some shows survive which it's clearly known do not (e.g LWT's Simon Dee Show).

I've found it strange how that 'Stars' episode has what looks like some early test animation for the titles slotted in. I wonder where this one which is 'doing the rounds' came from...

"Stars" was apparantly recorded onto betamax from the original master so one of the original crew could take it home and let his kids watch it, this was mentioned many years later on a web forum to someone who was on an Animal Kwackers mission who then duly had that show transferred to dvd...

Thanks Chris !
I am still curious about the non-coloured "Rhubarb and Custard" style titles. I remember it having very colourful tiles/animation.

HI Clive, I am unsure if the titles changed in later series (39 episodes were made over 3 series' autumn 75 through to spring 78 as far as I am aware) my memories of the show aren't as clear as that, all I can remember is that it was my favourite as a 3/4 year old....

Apparantly, like many shows it is royalties and performers rights that will prevent any likely release, complicated further in this case by the fact that "Animal Kwackers Ltd" was a registered company who liqiudated after the programme finished and no-one is clear who now owns the copyrights. Sources are pretty sure that at least 36 shows exist in the Granada archive but sadly will probably remain there... You may remember a short clip being included in the C4 "100 Worst TV Programmes" a few years back (Rory telling his story and AK's singing "I Can Do It" is my memory serves me correctly), that caused a bit of trouble behind the scenes re the copyright/permission/royalty issues

thanks for all that info seems a real shame i suppose the only hope is someone working in the archives ever getting hold of it and copying it somehow but that would not be right at all and a silly surgestion ,so i guess we may never see any episode beyond the stars one avalible thanks agaion for all the info chris

I saw them at the St Georges Hall in Bradford. I think they may have also released an LP or something. They had quite a strong toddler fandom for a short while, though of course without a supporting TV programme they could do little in the way of merchandising. I know they are often ridiculed these days, but if you watch that 'stars' episode you can see that they have put alot of work into the music side of things.
