It was Mark Brown's funeral today. Sadly, I could not attend, but my thoughts are with his family today. I have fond memories of meeting Mark and we regularly exchanged emails. He's been at deaths door a few times before so this wasn't unexpected, but sad nonetheless. I hope that we can continue with his Missing Episodes project well into the future.

I never knew him or even had any direct contact with him, but I owe him a lot: without this forum giving me the inspiration, I probably would never have written and published my books. So, R.I.P. Mark Brown, and my sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.

Sadly his website has been consigned to the dusty archives. Many links are broken. During a recent episode of Saluting Dad's Army (on Yesterday) there were quite long clips of the US Rear Guard pilot. This lead us to the report at archive.is/20120630225102/http://www.btinternet.com/~m.brown1/rear.htmThis page is live at Archive.org HOWEVER a lot of the links at the bottom do not work, and it seems that they are now lost. It is a shame that this website has not been captured completely, and also has not been recreated. These are the broken links at the bottom of the rear.htm page: The RNID Archive By Mark Brown & John King (under repair) <== DOESN'T EXIST The BBC Treasure Hunt By Mark Brown <== EXISTS OK Missing Episode Hunting By Steve Roberts <== EXISTS OK The Rear Guard By Dave Homewood <== EXISTS OK It Ain’t Half Lost Mum! By Dave Homewood <== BROKEN Why Are So Many TV Programmes Missing? By Andrew Henderson <== BROKEN Missing, Believed Wiped 2001 By Sue Malden <== PAGE LOST === The left hand side bar has: what are missing episodes? <== BROKEN missing episodes forum <== URL CHANGED features <== NO URL missing episodes list <== BROKEN contact us <== EMAIL ADDRESS (STILL VALID) links <== BROKEN products <== BROKEN ====

I haven't been to this forum in years. How horrible that this sad news passed me by and I have only just found out now upon my return. Apart from Rob Moss, Mark Brown was the only member here that I had meaningful contact with and, although I never met him in the real world, he was always very kind to me here. He always made me smile when replying to requests with "my life at your command", a comedic use of a quote that I "borrowed" and used at work over here on this side of the planet. It made other people smile too. Thank you for that, Mark.
