I sent an email asking what episodes. My email could not be delivered.

I was initially suspicous of it being Darren Gregory because Gregory has done hoaxes on the online Loot before a few years back but I suppose Gregory would probably name episodes or at least mention having 'missing' episodes. It would interesting to know if this seller is genuine though and if so, very interesting to know what he has. I'm not going to try e-mailing though, I couldn't afford to buy any film prints off anyone at the moment!

What is a URL to access this ad? I might try having a go at him and see if I can get him to part with anything, if indeed he truly has anything?

The URL is there, at the bottom of my first post at the top of the page. It appears to still be working.

Ok, I've e-mailed the fellow asking about Doctor Who, Avengers, and Adam Adamant (another series which has missing episodes) ... if anybody hears back from this fellow, please post your results here.

A few comments:
1) If this guy were for real (which I'm sure he's not). Flooding him with requests is NOT the way to go about recovering episodes. It will only serve to make him raise his prices.
2) Asking specifically about "missing" shows is a sure fire way to put someone off. If you must email him, ask for a list of what he has for sale.
Overall, you should leave the checking to people who know what they are doing - someone in the RT, or a film collector etc.

Somebody on the Doctor Who Restoration Team message board says he has successfully e-mailed this guy and he says the Doctor Who print he is selling is an episode of The Dominators. The Avengers episodes are 'Chorus of Frogs' and 'What the Butler Saw'. No mention of the Adam Adamant or anything else. He says he thinks the guy is genuine. So no claims about missing material, at least not the Doctor Who or Avengers, there is no mention of the other stuff. I don't know whether he asked him. I now doubt this is Darren Gregory to be honest, he usually talks about trading well known missing episodes. One wonders what the other stuff is. If some e-mails are being returned, perhaps that is a problem with the website. I might try e-mailing him, just to enquire about what he has but I can't afford to offer him much money for the prints.

Have manged to get a reply from this guy and have posted his reply below:
Hi, thank you for your enquiry. I'm afraid I have agreed a sale with a gentleman from Stoke yesterday evening for the prints I am selling and he has arranged to come over Sunday morning to collect them. However, I have been messed with about before, so if he fails to show I will let you know. The episodes of the Avengers I am selling are called 'A Chorus of Frogs' and 'What the Butler Saw'. The Dr. Who print is of the second episode of a serial called 'The Dominators'. The Adam Adamant episode is 'The League of Uncharitable Ladies'. Also there is an episode of Dr. Finlay's Casebook called 'The Next Provost But One' and an edition of Not Only But Also. There are a few splices on one of the Avengers prints, but they are all in good condition with no major problems but some are not correctly labelled. They all play well and have good picture quality, the Not Only But Also is probably the poorest in quality but still very reasonable and there are no problems with the film itself. As I say, if the sale falls through, or if I am selling anything similar in the future, I will let you know. If you would like any further information, please feel free to get in touch. Thanks again for your enquiry. Regards, M. Mason.

That is very interesting. I don't think that is Darren Gregory, there is no mention of missing Doctor Who and no mention of trading missing episodes. Of course, you can't be sure he's genuine but I'm interested in this guy. Best to give people the benefit of the doubt and to be hoaxed than to possibly miss out on missing material. Of course there is no indication he has missing shows but he sounds like a film collector who possibly has other stuff. I agree though that mass mailing him asking about missing episodes would be a mistake, but perhaps somebody who has already spoke to him could e-mail back and politely ask him if he has anything else he would be interested in selling, you might just get something interesting out of him? He does say feel free to get back in touch and does mention about possibly selling 'similar' stuff in the future
