I was wondering if anyone knew exactly why Galton and Simpson showed the great foresight of preserving steptoe and son in their home recordings. Surely a fairly unusual, but excellent move for the time Did they find out that a lot of the hancocks where not in the archive and decide to take matters into their own hands? Or was it just a happy coincidence? Also have they been thoroughly checked out in case they might have preserved anything else important and missing like the lost potters or who?

as I understand it they found it difficult getting access to their own shows and knew they would eventualy wiped and wanted their own recordings to both preserve them and to view them when they wanted.
