That sounds like good news to me! Now all we need to do is get someone who can speak Italian to help make some subtitles for the Italian remake of A for andromeda! That would rock.

Sorry Lance, but you seem to have misread the 2 Entertain Video Limited details, which are mainly for clips from A for Andromeda but without The Eye of the Tiger that BBC4 was going to broadcast on 13th May but pulled because they could not get broadcast rights.
However, it is still good news and perhaps we will get both The Eye of the Tiger and The Andromeda Breakthrough in due course.
A quick look around shows that 2 Entertain Video has strong BBC connections so perhaps at last my wait from 1961 and 62 will be rewarded.

More news on the DVD, which will be called The Andromeda Anthology is that it will be released on 17th July 2006 in a region 2 version. Play.com are selling it at the reduced price of £17.99 with free delivery. Unfortunately how many discs are in the set and any detail is not available at present. Knowing the number of discs would enable a reasoned guess as to content
I also found by chance that Adam Adamant Lives will come out on the same date for £31.99 through the same outlet.

(all 17 existing episodes and a lot of interesting extras), "The Andromeda Anthology" (all of "The Andromeda Breakthrough" and what exists of "A for Andromeda"), "Dark Season", "Century Falls" and "First Born". All the best Andrew

Now so long ago I doubt anyone apart from fans would recal AA Lives. It doesn't have the lovely 35mm location work that Avengers has. Good for cult tv fans, but the public might well sneer or at least be ignorant.

Hi Gerald Now so long ago I doubt anyone apart from fans would recal AA Lives. It doesn't have the lovely 35mm location work that Avengers has. Good for cult tv fans, but the public might well sneer or at least be ignorant. I think that's a distinct possibility ... and a great shame. But then again, I think "First Born" is the kind of title aimed more at the general market, with "Century Falls" and "Dark Season" bridging to the kid's market as well. And actually, the location work on "Adam Adamant Lives!" is 35mm for the most part and some of it, when you see a decent print, is rather lovely. I had the pleasure of seeing the restored print of "A Vintage Year for Scoundrels" a few weeks back and I have never seen the series looking so sharp and so wonderful. All the best Andrew

That's nice to know that at least it will look good. I always felt the series weakness was the lack of a high budget. Some episodes 'Doomsday Plan' are rather good to begin with (Newsreader (K Kendall) attacked) , but the drama ends up in the end inside fairly small sets (in a 'control room'). Unfortunately, a lot of AA lives seems to be like that. A pity that the episode with the skeletons on the tube train doesn't exist, which is one of the weirdest openings ever!

So, any word from 2Entertain as to why and how they suddenly acquire an inclination and a budget to restore these releases after not doing a thing with the Hancock and Steptoe discs?.
