I have just recieved seris three and four of On The Buses.
On viewing them it was discovered that apart from four eps out of the two seris all the other eps were from the same masters as used for the releases on vhs by the Video Club.
In other words,no VT clocks, frontcaps,ad bumpers or endcaps.
Why oh why is Network starting to become like any other DVD releasing company that puts out an ITV show that has front and endcaps and ad bumps and snips them off for DVD?
I could just about put up with three eps from the first seris of OTB having come from Video Club masters with the rest from LWT masters, but to have all the eps bar four missing all their idents etc....!
I hate to think what the Budgie eps will be like when they get relesed soon.
Is Network saving money by using the Video Club masters, why do a a lot of the Thames idents get cut off and replaced by the Fremantle Media logo;cannot someone who compiles these DVD masters reimpose the origanal ident so the we can see the program as it was origanally transmitted?
Another Network release that suffered missing front and endcaps was the Tales of the Unexpected vol 1-except one ep had the origanal Anglia idents at start and finish-methinks this one dug a tunnel out of the archive to escape having it's origanal idents lopped.
I do hope that someone at Network reads this and understands that by doing some computor trickery the old idents can be reinstated and the programs made to look like their old selves again.
I buy Network release as they release the sought of material I watched when I was young and like to re watch these shows as there is nothing that makes me want to watch modern tv output.
I applaud what Network has done in getting these TV classics out on DVD but I do think that more could be done to preserve them in their origanal master format, not missing those lovly old idents and bits of music.
If anyone viewing this thread has any infomation on what I have posted I would be grateful if they could share it with others via this thread.
Many thanks in advance for any infomation posted here.
Let's just hop Budgie won't have it's "wings" trimmed by the time he's released from his cage!TTFN everyone.
