Recently a daily mirror article has popped up claiming that macra and wheel are up for animation. This was backed up by other websites reporting this such as female first. I cannot find the daily mirror article but a reddit post containing it https://www.reddit.com/r/doctorwho/comments/8z9th6/apparently_macra_terror_and_wheel_in_space_are/ Supposing that daily mirror aren't the most trustworthy I wouldn't totally believe it but looks promising.

I think that the rumour about Wheel was only refering to the new BritBox telesnap reconstruction. Not sure about Macra though.

And neither was that. The story broke at an unfortunate time (or incredibly fortunate for these clickbait sites). The Wheel release is the Britbox reconstruction finally coming out on DVD, the confusion has allowed the story more oxygen than it deserves. It has been confirmed another animation is in the works, but it isn't The Wheel in Space (whether or not it is The Macra Terror remains to be seen).

Alas, after further research you are correct that the listing is for the britbox version. This has been backed up by the animation team behind Shada.

Recently a member of an Aussie DW FB page posted a screenshot of an email-reply he received from ROADSHOW. He had asked about Aussie copies of classic WHO going out of print. The reply he posted included the news that box sets of season 19 and season 10 were to be released this and next year. Further that Wheel in Space was due next year. If true.. this would imply animation wouldn't it?

As jake says above, it could be nothing more than the Britbox versions.

They've already said it's the Britbox version, why would you jump to the conclusion that it's an animation?

Well if it is the Britbox version, there better be some amazing extras because $25 is a bit of a steep sticker price for a recon

I can't see how a release like this is warranted without animation. How can it be marketed? It's not a re-discovered episode. It will sell bugger all here in Australia would be my prediction.

It's content that has already been produced and can be stuck on a disc. Next to no effort involved, so next to no cost involved. They can afford for it to sell poorly because the break even point is going to be pretty small compared to any other release.

The existing Wheel in Space episodes on Britbox Are they just the Lost in Time DVD versions? or has there been any further restoration?
