I've never managed to find out if the Thames versions of "The Shadoks", voiced by Kenneth "Start the Week" Robinson, still exist. It has been suggested to me that maybe the voice-overs were done live, and never recorded, but I'm a bit doubtful about that. This seems to have been Thames attempt at a pre-News (or pre-Today show in their case) children's series that would appeal to adults and children, but it didn't seem to last much beyond 1973. I've seen a few of the French originals, and I've spoken to someone who has an off-air audio of one of the UK versions, but will the UK tapes ever resurface? Are they lost or just lurking in an archive, unnoticed and unloved? It was a brilliant series, it would be sad to think that they were lost. Anyone know owt about this?

Anyone know owt about this? Seems not! Not surprising, as I *think* it was only shown in the Thames region in '73. However, the French cartoons are great, and I've love to see these with the Robinson narrations. It's worth googling the Shadoks, as there is some good stuff out there, especially the Shadoikus (Shadok haikus). It would be a pity if the UK versions were gone for good, though..I prefer to think that they are just biding their time in an archive somewhere.
