Can any of you guys in the know tell me anything about the archive status of The Billy Cotton Band Show?
This ran for several years but whenever a clip is shown these days it always seems to originate from the same edition (the one shown on BBC 4 a year or two ago), so I'm wondering if that's the only one that still survives....?
Any help much appreciated!

you probably get a more accurate reply later-- but for now
I think there is about two left one from 1959 and another from 1964

What about 'Billy Cotton's Music Hall' on BBC-2? Same format? I think it exists.

What about 'Billy Cotton's Music Hall' on BBC-2? Same format? I think it exists. 25/9/66 - titles and a film sequence 23/10/66 - titles and film sequences 17/6/67 - film sequences I.e. no complete editions unfortunately. There is also a programme called "Paris by Night:La Nouvelle Eve" featuring BC transmitted 4/8/58, which exists as a 35mm telerecording, the obituary programme "Tribute to Billy Cotton" transmitted 26/3/69 which exists as a 16mm telerecording, and "Old Bill: Billy Cotton Memoir" shown 6/5/69 which is held on b/w film (not a telerecording). Additionally there are appearances in an extract from "Celebration Music Hall" 15/5/54, a news item of Princess Margaret visiting the Television Theatre on 7/2/56, BC interviewing fellow band leader Ted Heath in "Tin Pan Alley" 14/5/56, an interview with BC in "We Are Your Servants" 6/6/56, a contribution to Russ Conway's "This is Your Life" on 7/12/59, a glimpse on "News Extra" about the Royal Command Performance on 20/5/60, another on a news item about the Variety Club awards on 12/3/63, an excerpt from "The Billy Cotton Band Show" tx'd 10/2/63 featured in "Looking at Television" 8/5/63, an appearance in the Churchill birthday tribute "Ninety Years On" 29/11/64, a contribution to "Christmas Night With the Stars 1964", and interview with BC and Bill Cotton Jnr on "Late Night Line Up" 22/11/67.

would the 1963 edition start with "put on your ta-ta little girlie"? 27/1/63 starts with "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" - I don't have details to hand about the 22/9/63 edition to hand.

A 10 minute extract on 16mm survives of the 12/5/62 episode outside the BBC, featuring Cliff and the Shads doing 'Do You Wanna Dance' (live) plus a couple of other songs, one of which is a duet with BC and Cliff performing the vaudevillian 'Super Special Villain of The Year'.
