Any later and this SE might get overshadowed by releases of other recovered classics. There's cup half full, and then there's drowning in the ocean of drinkable water!

I'd like to see the Enemy of the World trailer on there. Someone recreated it I believe using the sound and film? That would be a neat little thing. I think it was me. Others would have done it too since, but I remember doing it once as well.

Why re-release EOTW as SE? Its only 5 years (almost) since it resurfaced. Other than a few extras, there is nothing new to add. Its not as if the origional release is scarce (at least in R1) on the web. Feels like the BBC is grasping at straws on what to release for DW classics. I'd be far more likely to shell out again for an animation of UM 1 & 4 to replace the lack luster release in 2015 than another copy of EOTW with no new "serial material."

There is a slight improvement to the quality, but the purpose of this DVD is to provide Commentary and VAM to those that want it. It’s a popular serial and Classic is selling quite well.

Poor Pat Troughton as Doctor Who. Fondly remembered as the Time lord but so little remains. Surely any upgrade on even existing material is cause for happy times.

One of my points earlier in the page, animate the two missing episodes of The Underwater Menace as that will really add value added material to the release

I agree with the last post. Underwater Menace went up in estimations with the discovery of that one episode for quite a few fans I recall. Deserves a re visit as well

At least EOTW is complete and UM is not. That's a bigger selling point for starters. You have more chance of selling a complete serial to the general public rather than a hybrid version. Of course fans will buy it as I would. But a 1960's half a story in B&W will not endear an audience that is used to slick productions to buy it. Comparatively, it's a very small niche product in a massive market.

The point still stands. Surely any new Troughton releases are good news

We're actually not doing so bad with Pat's stuff now. While more of his episodes are missing compared to Hartnell, there are: - 6 Hartnell serials with no representative episodes vs only 4 for Troughton
- 10 Hartnell serials haven't been released on dvd vs 8 for Troughton
Of course there were 29 total serials for Hartnell vs 21 for Troughton, so it's still not great but we're doing a lot better than we were in the 80s!

Very true and UM is ripe for an upgrade and as Power of the Daleks and Shada have proved the idea is not dead. Not all fans are Nu Who Matt Smith and David Tennant only fans

I'm curious to know if the slight updates to the serial required going back to the 16mm films at all?

Yes, I was wondering if they needed to go back to the 16mm films. Also, I noted that the credits on the Eotw dvd and special edition, when it comes to Howard Kings credit at the end of part 6,and Fred Hamiltons credit, they flicker, one inwards and one outwards, just curious as it happens on both versions of episode 6 scrolling credits, so must have happened on the digital master.
