Does anyone here remember Hywel Bennett as Dr Blickley in Malice Aforethought. A black comedy series (9:30ish on a weekday on BBC2 in the late 70's?). A bit like Kind Hearts and Coronets but set in the 30's? Really enjoyed it at the time. I wonder if it still exists?
Shelly's character would appreciate the irony of the timing of the recent DVD release. What a shame, RIP Hywel.
I didn't realise he was married to Cathy McGowan.

In retrospect, it seemed like a particularly good series at the time, well acted & funny. It would certainly be a good release & straight on my to buy list.

Agree that he was good as Dr Bickley. I think that he probably underachieved with his career after making such a strong impact as a young man in the 60s.

Hywell also played an Aridian from the planet ARIDIUS in an early role in the Dr Who serial The Chase with William Hartnell.He wore a very unconvincing one piece suit and head appendage meant to portray fish-like aliens.However,you could very clearly see the zip closing the costume on his back!Robert Hardy was a superb actor.He was excellent in Strange Report and as Pontius Pilate in Dennis Potter's Son Of Man.He portrayed him as a bored,bloated and spoiled Roman Official-not evil but swayed by public opinion to do what he thought was the right thing.Unforgettable production and an unforgettable actor.R.I.P to both actors.
