Hi all, a few days ago, I was listening to some music, and a random thought occured to me regarding avenues leading to missing episode recoveries.
I thought I'd be fun to think of unlikely scenarios that have only the slimmest of chances for leading to recoveries, or the most tenuous connection to missing episodes
I.e it's highly unlikely anything would come of it, but there's still a <1% probability that something could.
Here's an example:
Pink Floyd- Pink Floyd, the famous English technologically experimental rock group, was formed in 1965, releasing their first album, The Piper at the Gates if Dawn, in 1967, with the original line-up of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason. After one more album, Barrett left the group due to several reasons, and the most well-known lineup remained. After perfecting their sound over a few more albums, they hit it big in 1972 with The Dark Side of the Moon, a monumental release and best seller.
It's suspected Pink Floyd were Doctor Who fans. They have 'quoted'a section of the theme song in their composition, One of These Days, Gilmour (I believe it was him) once performed a brief solo of the theme during a concert, and it is believed that Delia Derbyshire/the Radiophonic Workshop was an influence for them. Considering their association with recording technology, could the members of Floyd have owned an early videotape recorder, and have recordes episodes of the series? Looking at their time period, could they have recorded any mid-late Troughton episodes, or some early Pertwee? Did Roger tape The Space Pirates for Syd, as a parting gift? However, they have once said, in their early recording days, they would always stop whatever they were doing to catch the latest episode of Monty Python, as they were huge fans (they financed Holy Grail with profits from Dark Side of the Moon). This, and the fact their big commercial breakthrough wasn't until 1972, suggests they didn't possess a recorder. Still, it's a thought...
All out of the box thinking, straw clutching, and wild theories welcome!
