Hi, I'm curious what television shows were in those film cans. Anything unique you saved from oblivion? What time period were the shows produced? Are there no television archives in New Zealand? I would have thought by now television stations would have been swept top to bottom by those looking for Dr. Who, and anything else found send to archives. How can a television station hire someone so uncurious, who cares so little for television as to happy throw out film cans without seeing whats in them? Overdue reply, the film cans I found in NZ were a complete colour set of Bernice Bobs Her Hair, a 1976 PBS programme starring Shelley Duvall in remarkable condition. The other was an instructional film for new mothers.

I wonder if there are any clips in other retrospective or documentary series in other coutries who may have inserted clips into other shows. We have programmes like points of view, junior points of view, the late show, windmill, did you see, nationwide, local news bulletins, breakfast time, jim'll fix it, blue peter, this is your life to name just a few. I find it hard to believe that around the world there arn't other similar types of shows that would have used extracts that may still survive. Has anyone checked it out?

Not many smaller countries made their own programmes, certainly not that would use clips from English ones. But even if they did, how and where would you even begin to "check it out"?
