How would one check it if the can was unlabeled or mislabeled? I know you'd have to look at the actual contents, but how could one do that without risking damage to the print? I think you've got to very carefully unwind it, maybe something on the leader. If you have not purchased it and think it might be damaged, ask if you can get someone to handle it properly to determine its contents. If the person denies your request, then I would assume a scam. If the person is OK with it, find and expert to handle the print to check its actual contents. This is what I do when I find some piece of "rare" memorabilia. I also found that if I think the piece is rare and has a reasonable chance of being authentic, I tell the seller what I intend to do then: if it is not authentic, I offer a nominal fee for his/her trouble (or even buy it if I like it enough); if it is authentic, I offer more than its price but less then I can get for it.
