I remember seeing these two serials at a fan event many years ago. (I do remember them from their original screenings.) However I have heard rumours that the company who originally had them nolonger has them. I would be grateful if anyone here can confirm if these two serials still officially exist or not . I would very much like to believe that one day they might be released on DVD.

As mentioned elsewhere in reply to your earlier posting, they are currently available unofficially on DVD on a well known auction site for £9.99 each. Grab them while you can. If you are not a member I am happy to obtain them for you. It would be nice to think that the original prints exist but wouldn't the owners ie Canal Plus prefer to keep them on a modern format in their archives.

From what I hear, Canal + are pretty indifferent to the ABC archive generally and only bought it in order to obtain the "jewel in the crown" The Avengers anyway. So I can't imagine they are particularly interested in transferring the holdings to any modern formats (sadly). I haven't heard of any digitisation programme of all the surviving ABC material and - apart from those programmes specifically required for use such as for Network's Redcap DVDs - that material just exists on old prints and negs in the vault, as far as I know.

I think Laurence is right. Certainly when Network wanted to release Redcap, they not only found they only existed on film, but that there were fewer episodes actually existing than the catalogues claimed.
