www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mhcsm6CNqI&search=monty%20python%20montypython%20comedy%20british%20uk%20sketch%20pbsKERA-TV in Dallas was the first PBS station to broadcast Monty Python's Flying Circus, and it was the Pythons' first stop in the US after the premier of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in Los Angeles in 1975. This interview footage first aired live on KERA that year, and hasn't been seen by the public since. It was discovered on an old reel that had been saved by an engineer, and as you can see, it cuts off after about 14 minutes... the engineer taped over the rest. It's a look at the group being candidly questioned by fans at the peak of their fame and creative powers. Provided by The Sound of Young America, a public radio show about things that are awesome. On the web at www.maximumfun.org ; clip is downloadable at tsoya.blogspot.com

Oh, you just beat me to it. Also I think it's a very great solution for such things - a small but interesting recovery, made available for free. That sort of thing should happen more often. PS for the python fans, an introduction to Live at city center by John Cleese (audio - download first please): www.geocities.com/montypythonmuseum/mpkbfh.mp3

I'm actually the guy introducing the clip... thanks for putting it up here. Please check out our podcast if you're into Python, we should be having Terry Jones on the show soon, if all goes according to Hoyle. It was very good of the Python folks, and the KERA folks, to clear this for me to distribute free (even the intro and sketch clips). They love Python, and want to share it. I see YouTube has a couple of the Python industrial / sales films, including the legendary Birds Eye Peas extravaganza. When will we get an extras-tastic set of DVDs, eh?

Waiting for decent Python releases are like waiting for decent Beatles releases, with all the legal wrangles involved, could be next week, could be 10 years from now

Are you the Ben Walker who has a show on FM radio in Boston? I was on the show a while ago.The Python tape reminds me of the days when I took it for granted that I would be in Python's shoes after I graduated from Hampshire Country School. OK, I had problems. And their shoes probably wouldn't fit me anyway.

No, I'm the Ben Walker who lives in Australia patiently awaiting the next Monty Python release Can anyone tell me (I know most of the people on this forum are from the UK ) if the 'Audiobook CD' of Monty Python's Flying Circus available on the BBC site contains recordings from the actual episodes or whether it contains the first Monty Python LP. I'm sure someone owns it... www.bbcshop.com/invt/0563558202&bklist=%3Cvenda_bklist1%3E

Correct me if I am wrong but the python records, and tapes, were NOT taken from the TV soundtrack but recorded in studio. Though some sketches may seem exactly identical, there's always something that wasn't in the TV version. Such as new material, reference to the other side of the record, etc.

Thanks Nicolas, believe it or not, it is the original LP! I thought the BBC 'Audiobook' CD contained the LP, but I could never get a tracklisting. Guess it's time I replaced my vinyl... Too bad I can't get shipping to Australia off the BBC site...
