Hi all,
Just a quick question. Could anyone enlighten me on the history of recoveries from the Avengers? I know what exists today but would be interested to know whether the second and third season episodes were ever lost, and if so when and how were they recovered? Also do they exist as 16mm telerecorded prints?

AFAIK, the surviving season 1 episodes as well as all of seasons 2 and 3, are telerecordings.

all the video Avengers TV episodes are on TR or are some on Tape?

Hi, I believe the 2 1/2 season 1 episodes and all of series 2 & 3 are TR 16mm, and season 4 onwards is native 35mm. Would be interested to know how/if these were ever lost, and how they were recovered? Also what became of the ABC archive?

The remaining ABC TV archive resides in the vaults at Pinewood studios.
Apart from Avengers and a 1968 seris that was shot on location in coulor in Africa(forget title) the remaining material is either 16mm t/r,a few progs on 405 b/w VT,filmed Avengers and that African show on 35mm.

Do you mean FRONTIER?
ABC's enthusiastic project they soon got bored with ,
and abandoned . The completed episodes were eventually shown by Thames TV.
DAKTARI was American, produced in darkest Hollywood not Africa I would imagine?

i heard off www.tv-ark.org.uk in the cult section that the first three series of the avengers was seen only in the north, despite ABC running the midlands & north at weekends. They ran the midlands & north as if they were two completely different ITV franchisees, even though they were actually the same company. |
