Am I going mad? Am I remembering some show that never was?
I was out tonight with friends and they were talking about Skippy the kangaroo and I said do they remember the Seal lion show I think he was called Sammy the Seal and he used to rescue stranded kids and treasure etc.
Well they all thought I was bonkers as no one in the group knew what I was on about.
Could another show have featured a Seal or sea lion?
Was it a pal of Flipper?
I just want to prove them wrong before I go mad!!

It sounds like an episode of Disneyland from 1962.
This is from Amazon..
Brothers Arthur ( Michael McGreevey - whatever happened to him?) and Petey (Billy Mumy - before he got Lost in Space) discover and befriend a wounded seal (Sammy) while summering on the coast and nurse him back to health. Come time to go home at the end of the season, the boys bring their new friend back to inland Gatesville, without telling their parents (Patricia Barry and Robert Culp - back when he was just Arthur and Petey's Dad - not U>N>C>L>E) Sammy feels, well, like a seal out of water in his new home. The boys get help from the neighbor girl (Ann Jillian - THAT Ann Jillian?) who has a pool. Things get wet and wild later that night at her parents' pool party, when Sammy does what comes naturally to a seal. The kids try to make amends and just keep getting themselves and Sammy in deeper and deeper waters.

There's also a series called "Salty" about a boy and his pet seal, set in the Caribbean. Not sure when it was made exactly but it was last shown in the UK (as far as I know) in 1976/77 on BBC1.

I think its the Salty one as that sounds spot on for when I recall it.
Was it ITV or BBC?
Was there a seal in Daktari? as that is the only other show around the same time excluding Animal Magic with Terry Nutkins of course!

Sounds like you've fallen victim to the old memory tricks thing. Maybe the Disney episode was repeated around the same time as when "Salty" was on. Just a thought.
