Just recently purchased both the DNAYS and ALT1948S DVD releases. Really enjoyed the latter and I think my wife also agrees that it's the pick of both these releases. I was a bit surprised by the condition of the film when reviewing 48. It looks as if no restoration work has been done on it at all which is sad.
Could anyone fill me in on whether or not these 5 episodes are all that exist of the run? That would be a shame as I would really like to see the Bookshop sketch (ie. Marty and John?). I read that there were 6 episodes in existence on the IMDB site and that one of those might be a composite episode found in Sweden?
Quite funny how both were packaged to appeal to Python fans!!! Must be more a market there than us Brooke-Taylor/Goodies fans!!!

This subject has been covered at length not too long ago. If you go down the pages, you will find the thread. Suffice to say, these 5 compilations are not all that exist as the 6 original editions were left out entirely. A cheap and nasty release of a series that deserves much better. The DNAYS release is a good package though, containing as it does the 9 surviving original Rediffusion editions in pretty decent quality.

Thanks Laurence. I didn't have time to read 5 or 6 pages of threads in when I made the post.
