Died in Ipswich Hospital last week aged 74. Wife of Alan Strafford Johns - Inspector Barlow.
She was the unseen Mrs Barlow in Z Cars - only her voice being heard.
Most recent role was 2 years ago in an episode of Heartbeat.
Article in local paper caught my eye - loved Z Cars as a kid - half terrified and half in awe of Inspector Barlow.
Alan Stratford Johns died in 2002 aged 77.

stratford johns was good actor,he was also in a couple of avengers episodes too.

Seem to recall that in the early 80's ( though could be mistaken about when) he had a series just called Barlow or Barlow Investigates something like that.
Anyway I'm sure it was made long after the archive purges so probably survives somewhere or other - don't know if it has ever been repeated.

Hmmm... The only one I am aware of is "Barlow at Large" (1971 - 1975). It may have been repeated in the eighties though...
NB: Retitled "Barlow" from 1974 onward.
