Hi, there.
I was watching The War Games over the weekend. When Jamie and Zoe are sent back to their own times, we see what appear to be actual alternate clips from The Highlanders and The Wheel in Space. Were they formed specifically for The War Games? Or were they clips from the cutting room floor that would have been used had the production staff not added Jamie or Zoe to the TARDIS crew?
Thanks, everyone.

Hey Lou,
I can't remember precisely where I read this ( probably an old issue of DW Monthly or the like), but I believe both scenes you mentioned were shot specifically for The War Games. Something tells me I read an interview with Wendy Padbury where she talked about her scene and how the other actress in it had to be brought back and how strange it was to revisit the Wheel set and costumes. If I can find the info in my collection of old mags I will follow up with details.

Yes both those sad scenes were specially shot for The War Games with Clare Jenkins approached to make a brief cameo as the Tanya character. That episode really did mark the end of an era and I am often reminded of Wendy Padburys quote in the Radio Times tenth anniversary special: "In the end we all left together ...... what a sad day that was."

shouldn't this thread title read 'Jamie and Zoe' not Victoria ?
they were indeed two specially filmed cameo scenes for 'The War Games' - in Zoe's case she says in answer to Tanya that she has just seen The Doctor and Jamie leave in the Tardis which was an alteration of her Timeline as originally she stowed away hiding in a basket or something in the Tardis - they find her and before taking her with them The Doctor wants to show her the perils they face and he puts on headphones linked to the Tardis scanner and relates a rerun of 'Evil of The Daleks' (while the cast and crew had a break)...after that the show later returned with Zoe a Tardis regular and no further mention was made of the Dalek story she had watched related to her on the Tardis scanner ...
presumably Zoe must have been returned first to her time by The Timelords as she's asked if The Doctor AND Jamie have left in her cameo back on The Space Wheel....then Jamie must have been sent home back to Scotland in 'The Highlanders' - the impression given then was that due to The Timelords intervention their time/space travelling with The Doctor had never occurred
tho' as Patrick's Doctor observed later in 'The Five Doctors' when Jamie and Zoe were retuned to their time zones by The Timelords ALL memory of their time spent travelling with The Doctor was erased from their minds...indicating they actually HAD all those adventures but retained no memory of them...which makes more sense

Only their memories were erased not the actual travelling. They were sent back to their own times at the point when they originally left (so Zoe and Jamie did leave in the TARDIS but then their future selves were returned so to everyone else it was like they'd never left).
