Very grateful to Mr Cura for the telesnaps, but as a vintage photography enthusiast I've sometimes wondered what sort of camera he used. Given the average number of snaps for an episode and the aspect ratio, I'd guess at half-frame 35mm, but I think I read somewhere he designed his own camera? Incidentally, shame it wasn't a 16mm movie camera, but you can't have everything, can you?

Yes, it was indeed half-frame 35mm and he did indeed build his own camera(s) to take the tele-snaps. He was something of an inventor, so it's exactly the sort of thing he'd do.
Whether he went on to use more commercial half-frame cameras during the 1960s when he work rate went up, I don't know.
