My question is is there anyone will to transfer these or take a look at whats on them some are marked on the boxes. One says Paul Simon Others have boxing matchs written on them Ali and Bugner

Perhaps www.totalrewind.org can help you? There is also www.palsite.com, they do not actually have a VCR N1500 / VCR-LP N1700 section but you could try posting in another section. (Note. Posting your email address on the latter site will almost certainly get you spam in your mailbox. The site itself is innocent but somehow spammers harvest there a lot. )

I also have a lot of Philips tapes (more than one type) from the years 1976-80 which I want to check out. So far I haven't managed to find anyone with a machine to play them on. Can anyone help here? Copies of anything interesting on them to anyone who can assist.

These machines still turn up occasionally on ebay. Just a few days ago I saw one actually advertised for free somewhere. Gone of course before I could get it.
Of course, there is always the possibility of paying someone to do a transfer. But that's not appealing of course if you do not know the contents of a tape.

I am also in a position to help, either with copying of the tapes, or repair of the machine. Please note, a lot of common faults with these machines are to do with parts no longer available, e.g. heads. It is VERY expensive and rare to find replacements. That being said, it may be fixable, and may not be too expensive a part! Could you describe the fault? Feel free to contact me on eggplant_casserole [at] hotmail [dot] com (obviously, fill in the written symbols, for anti spam measures!)
