The following PDF on page 10 of 13 states that on the 1st December 1964 HMS Eagle sailed for the Far East and by the 4th January 1965 - Mombasa HMS EAGLE 1964-66 -Axford's Abode www.axfordsabode.org.uk/pdf-docs/eagle13.pdfThis raises perhaps 2 scenarios... 1. That the 24 December 1964 screening of H.M.S. Paradise meets HMS Eagle took place before 1 December 1964? before HMS Eagle sailed for the Far East?..if so, was this Meeting recorded and then shown later on 24 December? and does the Royal Navy or HMS Eagle past crew association hold a copy of this recording? 2. Did the Meeting take place on 24 December but somewhere outside Britain? but that would have meant perhaps flying the regular cast of H.M.S. Paradise, Julie Rogers, Val Doonican, The Ladybirds and the Rediffusion production team to this location for filming?... what does the forum think about all of this? I'd be interested to hear all views please

William. The Ladybirds were a trio of session singers formed from some of the girl singers on 'Oh Boy'. Producers liked their nice demeanour and thus they were once very popular for filling musical breaks on comedy shows. Benny Hill loved having them on his shows. In the 1970s they released records under the name of 'The Pearls' www.youtube.com/watch?v=meR1tVjpCEk (the girl pictures are not them LOL) and in the 60s they released records under the name of 'The Sharades' www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UGrFr7wAUcNot to be confused with 'The Breakaways' www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTFBrYUtxLUwhich was also a trio of girl singers formed out the ashes of 'Oh Boy'...Tony Hatch adored these and used them somewhere in the mix of virtually every record he made in the 1960s and tried to give them a career of their own. They were also the singers on Burt Bacharach's 'Trains n boats n planes'

Re 264 Groucho I remember being very keen to see this show as I had always enjoyed the Marx brothers films that seemed to play endlessly in those days. However ,I had not factored in that Groucho was now much older ,75 to be exact, and well past his prime as a performer. I think that the show was based on a format he had used for many years in the USA where Groucho would interact amusingly with members of the audience. I think I only watched the first couple of episodes as it was all so poor. My only recollection is of a bemused looking Keith Fordyce trying to keep things together and a running gag where Groucho repeatedly calls him Mr Threedyce. It's amazing what stays in the memory bank.
