Apparently, there's to be a BFI release? Oh I hope they think of the things that I thought of!

Thanks for that. I pre-ordered mine straight from BFI. I did try the links provided but Amazon UK will not ship these titles to the US and they are not listed on the US site.

I have a vague recollection that there were several people who audiorecorded "the 1948 show". Graham Webb for example. But there was another one, mentioned some years back. Anyone remember the details...?

Series 1 Show 3 and Series 2 Show 4 were shown at BFI Southbank yesterday before a nice chat with Tim Brooke-Taylor and Aimi MacDonald - which were the two episodes that were found in 2015, I believe.
On the down side, they were unrestored - you could tell straight away from the Rediffusion logo - which I suspect means the new BFI release hasn’t had any work done on it. I wasn’t expecting any as this is a "niche" title, but hopefully someone can confirm this release looks better than the one issued in 2017 (which was pretty horrible)?
On the plus side, I’ve finally seen the original version of the Bookshop sketch!

On the plus side, I’ve finally seen the original version of the Bookshop sketch! Also, I am going to subtract points for not recreating the end credits where they were missing. They had the text, I told them the name of the font, it's not rocket science to re-make subtitles exactly as they were. Now whenever there's a gap in the material, it's just a script page and inferior audio now. Another option to reuse a bit of footage also went unused. Of course, before this we had nothing at all except a piss poor incomplete DVD. I'm not denying that.

My order arrived in the post today. Didn't expect them to arrive until next month, so that is definitely a plus. I am going to dive in starting ths weekend. Many, many thanks again to all involved!

So bizarre to see the bits with the mosquitos on the porch that the Goodies reused in the South Africa episode.

So bizarre to see the bits with the mosquitos on the porch that the Goodies reused in the South Africa episode. I once counted and there are 48 49 examples of reused material. Most obviously The 4 Yorkshiremen and a couple of others on Monty Python record albums and German episodes. But The Two Ronnies quietly recycled a lot of them as well.
