I was wondering about the outside chance that some of the original authors of the stories Out Of The Unknown episodes were based on could have been sent copies. I'm thinking particularly of the more well-known US authors who wouldn't have been able to watch the shows broadcast on TV but may have had the interest in seeing the adaptations of their work and the clout to request a copy; Asimov, Bradbury, Sheckley, Simak. Long shot, but thought it worth speculating on. Any thoughts?

That is a great suggestion. It's one of those 'obvious' ideas that I bet no one has followed up bar perusing some BBC file. And after the 'Moonbases on the Moon' Sky at Night finding all bets are off in that regard.
If any archive holds a copy, I bet they would not be aware of it's importance.
