Good to report that the Beeb are planning to sell online downloads of many of their lesser known material via a new service to be launched in a few weeks Here's hoping for some classic shows that only have a few examples existing and that weren't a commercial DVD prospect. www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2015-07/27/bbc-store-paid-downloads

Hooray to that and about blinking time. I wish they'd offer downloads of their audio archives.

Geo-locked to the UK though. No good for expats.

Actually there is a big issue with iPlayer Radio and the Beeb has not been inclined to do anything about it. The issue has been complained about on various Beeb forums at great length and for many years. This is the (deliberate?) truncation of programmes usually towards the end. 'Cabin Pressure' this week was truncated at 28 mins. impacting upon the build up of the 'story.' But Navy Lark, Dad's Army, Whack-O!, etc., etc., have all been affected. So I hope that if the Beeb gets around to allowing legal downloads of Radio programmes - likely to be charged for - it doesn't offer truncated versions. Frankly I deem it to be incompetence and arrogance to allow this issue to continue. But then maybe it is deliberate policy to frustrate those who know how to record these programmes - after all a truncated version is of no value to OTR enthusiasts whatsoever.

If this is happening i really hope the 'downloads' are actually downloads that i can add to my media server and not some program which expires after a certain time

The BBC Shop, part of Worldwide, are going to sell programmes to keep forever. Or so they're saying at the moment. AudioGo didn't last long though when they had to sell that off.

I must admit the plethora of low quality MP3s AudioGo used to offer kinda put me off the service. When you're used to Audible providing a single file (even if their software is pure nightmare fuel), AudioGo felt a bit amateurish.
