Contacted Tony.
He's meant to be a very nice guy, you know. Born in Surrey on the 29th January and supports Southampton (Cup Final Knockout 1976....), so like me on that....

I hope William's email will elicit a response from the great man He's meant to be a very nice guy, you know Well forgive me if I dont hold Tony Blackburn in the same esteem as some of those on here. Although he was by no means the only DJ to refuse to play punk he also banned Down in the Tube Station at Midnight after completely misunderstanding the song. I believe this led to an irate Paul Weller taking him to task on air. Always thought he came accross as a bit arrogant after that to be honest. But apologies for the off topic post!

Rather than ask for just totp, I would ask him what he might have in tv recordings from the 60s and 70s. There could be other things of interest

Would it be worth Kaleidoscope contacting David Hamilton to get in touch with him..?

Didn't someone on here say that David Hamilton was an enthusiastic early video taper too?

I should have taken the opportunity when he was doing his Big L Radio show a few years ago, he was really accessible then.

David Hamilton has done several events with Kaleidoscope - he has his own show on Big centre TV, one 60's broadcast tape came from him, not sure about domestic recordings. As far as Tony Blackburn goes, he was lined up for a Kaleidoscope event a few years back but backed out for work commitment reasons IIRC - so Kaleidoscope have been in touch with him & I imagine they enquired whether he had any early recordings - perhaps Chris can comment?

I saw on another thread that William mentioned that he hasn't replied yet.

That's right Richard no reply.
I've been talking to someone else who mentioned trying an old fashioned letter?

Yes this might be a good idea William.
Tony is still working busily. There is no certainty that he was actually the person who read your e-mail.
This might be tasked to someone else who is merely pragmatic.
