Advice Please - the above is a sample image taken from a DVD disc that was recorded on an early Philips DVD Recorder in Telecine on DVD+RW mode. There is a noticable 'Ghosting' effect on every disc - more noticable with titles, especially white letters against a blue background where the image is 'ghosted' to the right of the screen..... Could this be something to do with the DVD recorder used? iT WAS RECORDED in HQ mode - last time used a newer Sony DVD recorder with DVD-R and no problems.

Firstly, you need to check that it's not caused by the telecine process itself - it looks a lot like badly adjusted afterglow correctors on a flying spot telecine (ie Rank).
Otherwise, it's caused by poor DC response in a video amplifier somwhere along the way - this could be in the telecine, in the DVD recorder or in distribution amplifiers between the two.

it just might possibly be your output cable, that at least would be a cheap solution

Set-top DVD recorders are notorious for poor recordings. I would advise seeing one actually being used if possible before buying!
