well, sort of - I was just flicking through the Kaleidoscope archive holdings details for Blue Peter and spotted in the edition for 28.10.65 - mention of the Beatles investiture (as a film insert);
so I'm wondering whether this is unique BBC footage of the event since the Beatles film & TV Chronicles books only mention newsreel footage, and that's the pathe film, plus 3 different interviews filmed in a theatre afterwards.
does anyone know what the Blue Peter footage contains, has it been bootlegged and I've not spotted it?. Is there any mention of it in the Blue peter book Kaleidoscope published or does infax have any more details?

I've got they two Beatle books as well David; and as you say they do only mention (Newsreel) footage
I would love to think that the Blue Peter film insert is (unique) but my hunch is that it's not; as surely it would have been mentioned in a book or be out there in the collector's circuit by now?
Possibly Keith Badman might be able to throw some light on this?

It wouldn't be the fist time though that the BBC had fully catalogued footage that hadn't made it into the f&tv chronicles; my credit in the second book was for letting them know about some BBC coverage of the Yellow Submarine premier held as an insert reel, though the actual material was not included in the book. see: www.mausoleumclubforum.org.uk/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=21421&page=1#pid263139

reviewing what NellyM had to say in that mausoleum club thread - I don't recall much if any BBC News material refered to in the books or online, could easily be more untapped Beatles footage in the BBC's news film archive.
