I have an extremely vivid memory of a VT look show at tea time, black and white 60s era.
In it, Freddie Garrity appeared not as in usual suit but a black roll neck sweater. The caption 'Freddie and the Dreamers' appeared on screen. For years I thought this was the title of the series. It was definitely ITV. I thought 1966. Garrity was strolling up and down a 'London Palladium' type stage with Long backdrop grey curtains; conducting an audience of kids to join in singing (they didn't!)
It was a fun style, party atmosphere and one of my fondest early memories.
The song line I recalled was 'how lucky, how lucky I am, to live here in a windmill in old Amsterdam'.
The title a friend informs me is 'windmill in old Amsterdam' and appears on a cabaret musical style L.P. dating from late 1965.
I also recall Wally Whyton as a folk singer playing 'Puff the magic dragon', and Gerry Marsden playing songs solo on acoustic guitar. Marsden had a casual grey roll neck instead of the usual suit.
Of course I want to identify these and if they exist. Could I be thinking of '5 0 clock club' (Rediffusion)?

Could it be Southern's Little Big Time?
Wed 30th October 1968 BBC1 The Dean Martin Show BBC1 The Wednesday Show Southern Little Big Time 4:55 - 5:20 pm Freddie and The Dreamers
Freddie appeared regularly on that.
I saw a mouse. Where? There on the stairs.
A class childhood memory!
Uncle Mac used to play that.

He did do the number on 'Little big time' but it definitely wasn't. I loved the show / clip mentioned, and I clearly recall hating 'little big time' when I was older. Garrity at that point had quite swinging clothing and long side burns. I used to think it was awful / silly. I'd like it now - stills look quite psychadelic!

That sounds like it, 1963 - 65. Mind you, I'd have been 2 in '63. Still don't know if this was '5 0 clock club' or not though.

5 o'clock club and Tuesday Rendevouz were both live. I don't think the 16mm telerecorder was operational in those days at the Rediffusion Studios and I can't see them using the 35mm (400foot magazines) unless they had overseas sales lined up. (Australia channel 7?)
