Hi all
Does anyone remember a TV documentary from (approx.) the late 1970's, probably shown on BBC2 and on the subject of TV programmes in general; looking at the history of television, how it's affected culture etc etc. The one Dr Who clip they chose was a B/W clip from Claws of Axos featuring the tentacled axon attaching the Nuton power complex.

A clip from the Claws Of Axos was included in Whose Doctor Who in April 1977 (the Axon attacking the UNIT soldier, played by Derek Martin) and I'm pretty sure the same b&w clip was included in the documentary That's Television Entertainment on 1 November 1986, as part of BBC TV's 50th anniversary. Could it be either of those?

Firstly the documentary I'm thinking of was a general look at Television, not Dr Who-specific, which rules out Whose Doctor Who. Secondly this documentary was a very sober one, it looked at Television in an analytical way, which rules out the 1986 show (plus the doc that I'm trying to recall is one that I watched in my first house where I lived only upto 1981). It's not a big deal, I was just trying to pick brains really.

Purely by chance I think I have found this.
In 1976 the BBC showed a celebration of decades of broadcasting called "Forty Years". It was broadcast I believe in August and then over the Christmas period.
The show was several hours in length and it contained 200+ clips of various classic shows, and definitely contained at least one from Doctor Who; the one I remember was the Axon attacking the guards just outside the nuclear plant.
But because this was 1976, and therefore was still during the Doctor Who purge era, I'm wondering if any other Who clips were shown from then-existing episodes?
I can't find the show itself online, although it is obviously referenced in Genome and other TV listings sites.

I believethe only DW material in that show that doesn't exist anywhere else was an outtake from the Seeds of Doom, where Scorby pushes up against a "locked" door that then opens. I think that is on the DVD.
