The earliest memories I have of schools programming seem to BBC1 (in the days they were still on it), of the pie chart, '20th century focus', and a third item I can't identify. This was a series which had a programme on 'Richard the Lionheart'. It showed dramatised sequences, and may have used clips from 'Dr Who' (the crusade).
Does anyone know what this may have been and if it exists?
There was also a drama like a 'SCENE' play on BBC schools, but about Easter 1968, so it pre dates the series.
In this an American boy comes to stay in London with a boy and girl on an atlantic school exchange. I recall they were 15 or 16. In one scene the boy asked 'if they had any drug stores' (American term for a coffee and milkshake bar). There was then a film clip of the puzzled boy coming out of a high street chemists. I recall my brother laughing at it. The boy looked like Spencer Banks ('Timeslip').
Does anyone know what that might have been or if it would exist?
My ITV schools memories seem to start about 1969, with 'picture box', 'primary french' and 'drama' for some reason; later than the BBC memories.

Speaking of the pie chart, I was just watching the BBC-4 doc about the Radiophonic Workshop which used a short clip of same. I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not this was authentic or a recreated animation using the original stills as source material? I was under the impression that the original no longer existed. Vic Lewis Smith often does this sort of thing in his programmes. A very good doc though.

It was a recreation by the wonderful Dave Jeffrey. Was it? I had a feeling it was (and the Transdiffusion credit at the end seemed to suggest it). I'm not 100 per cent sure he got it absolutely correct though; I seem to think that the clock face appeared in five second chunks rather than one second. It's a long time ago now though and memories of the latter update (with the second hand moving) are now more recent in my memory. Can anyone remember decisively?

She and the English boy had to show an American boy around London (or England), as part of a school exchange. I've looked up Janina Faye but admit this is the first I'd heard of her. She played the character 'Tania' in the Hammer 1958 version of 'DRACULA'; and presumably would have been about 10 in that from the publicity stills. This would make her about 20 in '68. The only item I can find that may fit is 'BOY MEETS GIRL' a 1969 BBC drama item (no other details). I admit that doesn't fully fit though, as I recall I had measles at the time. I know that date was 1968, around Easter as I recalled the incident and I checked my personal medical records a number of years ago; (so confirmed that date).
