Stan Brehaut passed away last night.
Stan filmed virtually all of Out of Town, and was one of the main cameramen at Southern. He was a superb cameraman.
His work can be seen in Freewheelers, and in hundreds of Southern programmes. He also filmed large chunks of Day by Day.
He contributed to Meridian's ITV50 show, as well as the Dream Factory ITV book last year which celebrated the history of Southern/TVS/Meridian.
I have emailed the Newsdesk at Meridian, and hope that they record his passing tonight.
Jack Hargreaves used to refer to him as the best camareman in television.

Sad news. I recall his short filler films with Jack (called Country Matters or something?). I think he shot them in Kodachrome rather than the usual Eastmancolor rubbish, which telecines could not really handle properly in those days, and only good cameramen could get the best out of it.. If they still exist I would think they would look glorious today ?

This series of ten-minute films went out early on Saturday mornings, and were called 'Country Visit'.

Thanks Mike and S Thomas for clearing that up.
