Hi all.I was looking for the William hartnell desert island disk on you tube when I came across a clip of the savages episode one. If you type in William hartnell death on you tube (I know morbid) it has a news bulletin covering his death and about 50 seconds into it there is a clip of savages episode one.It is not on the lost in time boxset and I certainly havnt seen the clip before.I was wondering if this clip is already known to people or is it a new find.Anyway check it out for yourself.Be warned though the clip only lasts about 6 seconds.

That's from the start of episode one and was taken from the very end of the preceding story, The Gunfighters. Stuart

With the way some of the old episodes were edited and broadcast on TV, there are times when they would skip all the scenes that were part of the next story and just start rolling the end credits.

Funnily enough I was thinking exactly the same thing about 2 nights ago, where does that clip come from, after watching the excellent Savages recon on Youtube! Just shows how often I watch the Gunfighters! Makes two of us Mat eh?

Just shows how often I watch the Gunfighters! Makes two of us Mat eh? When The Gunfighters was finally broadcast in the United States in the mid 80s, they didn't show that clip where I lived. As the Doctor, Steven, and Dodo were entering the Tardis to leave Arizona, the end credits began to roll. If I had seen that clip later on, I would have thought episode 1 of The Savages might have been found. You have to be careful. People use those end clips as bait for hoaxes of missing episodes. I only watched The Gunfighters once, I don't think I would have survived a second viewing of that story.

Thanks for your understanding guys.I did feel rather foolish once I found out its at the start of gunfighters. Its like you say I don't tend to watch the gunfighters much.Last time I saw it must have been over a year ago so when I saw that clip I didn't register it as end of gunfighters but rather the start of savages.Oh well we live and we learn.

No problem, Mat. With the way the Omni-crap rumor has turned into a dud with no further episodes being recovered by the BBC, I'll take newly discovered clips from any lost story any day. Keep your eyes open for these types of things. There is a chance that you could find something that we would appreciate.
