Well, everyone else is at it! Let's have the forum members opinions on the best new drama on TV in 2014. My vote goes to True Detective, top inventive drama from the states with Low Winter Sun about corrupt Police in Detroit a close second

If we are talking stuff that started in 2014 rather than was just made in 2014, a decent new show is 'Salem'. Pretty good stuff. Also Constantine had a couple of weak episodes early in it's run but seems to be getting pretty good now. True detective seemed ok, but in honesty it didn't grab me enough to carry on with it.
Shows that were past their first season, the walking dead, game of thrones, under the dome, witches of east end and Atlantis. Astonishing there was a uk TV show in that list given the dire quality of modern uk tv.

I agree with you on British drama Greg, however The Fall season 2 was pretty good IMHO. Did you see Black Mirror, White Xmas? An enjoyably nasty / black comic near future Sci Fi one off drama. Well worth a look and its British!

Yeah, In many ways I agree with you, there's a lot of classics out there. We try and mix in an episode or two from classic DVD's with what we've recorded of the current offerings. This year we've re-watched Dept S, Jason King, Strange Report and are part way through the monochrome Saint episodes. Coming up OOTU, UFO, the complete Avengers, can't wait. Re - current stuff, The other half votes for True Detective, Low Winter Sun and The Walking Dead. Debating if it's worth getting the remade Star Trek episodes with new CGI. I'm not sure if I agree with the revamping in principle but I would like to have a look.

It's a tough call as I'm mostly still watching older stuff I'm seeing for the first time! That said, I can say that I was surprised by and enjoyed quite a bit the Fargo TV series. I'm also liking Endeavour, and look forward to next year's series when it comes along. They're not nearly the same. I find Endeavour easier to watch but Fargo was a much more surprising show - and as it's new, I guess I have to choose it, limitations notwithstanding! Probably there's other good stuff out there, and I'll check them out once I'm caught up with the backlog! 5 years, tops!

I'd forgotten about Fargo - what a great series. B.B.Thornton was great as the hit-man I thought.

Martin Freeman played a very twisted Charlie Brown sort, too. The perils of switching from underestimating to overestimating his worth was a treat to watch!

Tiny the Cat also rates Grand Hotel and he seems to manage the subtitles really well. Attachments:
