Good question, John! Sherlock Holmes was a well received literary figure in the Eastern European regions, just like everywhere else, and there was a science fiction fan base in Eastern Europe too, though not like we have nowadays. One wonders what such audiences would have made of Talons, or Doctor Who generally? Perhaps in a junkyard somewhere, or in packing crates on a disused jetty, there might be unexpected dupes of things properly thought lost forever - and not just Doctor Who, via means not unlike the ones mentioned in your link? Yep, long long odds - but it's nice to dream sometimes, especially if you aren't footing the expedition bills!

George Formby had a fan-base in the Soviet Union.Perhaps his maybe-lost silent film will turn up there? (Hee hee).
