The OTRR Library has these eps. marked as BBC copyright. So I looked for Whack-O! on the web and found this reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whack-O! "Missing episodes Most of the show's episodes are lost. Three of the original black-and-white episodes are known to exist today; from the colour revival series of the 1970s, only one is known to have survived." There's a full ep. here: www.turnipnet.com/whirligig/tv/adults/whacko/whacko.htmSo there's not a lot left. But then there is the info.: "There was also a radio version, on the Light Programme, 45 episodes of 30 minutes broadcast from May 1961 till July 1963, with Vera Lynn starring as herself in the second episode. Many of these radio episodes were recovered by a BBC archivist from a listener's collection of tapes in 2012." Hmm - what archivist? What eps. have survived? And where are the recordings now? And will they get released?

Summary of those radio eps. that survived ...
BBC Radio Light Program Series 1 1961 21 x 30 minute episodes (2 missing) Series 2 1962 12 x 30 minute episodes (1 missing) Series 3 1963 13 x 30 minute episodes (1 missing)
The t.v. series (in black and white) ran on the BBC from 1956–60 and (in color) from 1971–72. Edwards took the part of Professor James Edwards, M.A., the drunken, gambling, devious, cane-swishing headmaster who tyrannized staff and children at Chiselbury public school (described in the opening titles as "for the sons of Gentlefolk". The Edwards character bore more than a passing resemblance to Sergeant Bilko as he tried to swindle the children out of their pocket money to finance his many schemes.
The first six t.v. episodes were subtitled "Six of the Best". In 1959 a film was made based on the show, called Bottoms Up!. The series was revived in colour with updated scripts in 1971–72, slightly re-titled Whacko! In all, it ran for a total of 60 episodes, with 47 of black-and-white and 13 color, of 30 minutes each. There were three special shorts. There was also a radio version, on the Light Program, 45 episodes of 30 minutes broadcast from May 1961 – July 1963, with Vera Lynn starring as herself in the second episode.
Many of the radio episodes were recovered by a BBC archivist from a listener's collection of tapes in 2012.

I have the Board game under a pile of 'stuff' which needs sorting. I will dig it out and post a photo or three shortly

I seem to be missing a spinner to enable the characters to move around the board. There are also two pupils who appear have sloped off to the village instead of being available for games practice. I have no idea when I got this box game, nor do I know if there are many others around. I suspect it was an impulse purchase years ago and I never checked the contents....

I went to a recording of one of those 1972 tv versions of Wacko. I must have been 12 and was one of the first tv shows I ever saw recorded.
