I think I read a while back ( not sure where - may even have been here ) that episode 2 of UM had a few seconds missing which was revealed in comparison with the off-air audio, & that it was hoped that gap would be 'patched' by those restoring the episode. ( I know there was a similar missing bit for Galaxy 4 : 'Airlock', which was excellently sorted out, but I think I also read of a short gap in UM ep 2 ) If so, re the new DVD release; does anyone know if the missing seconds of UM episode 2 were patched with the relevant audio reinstated ? And, if so, where in the episode is that segment ? If it is the case & anyone knows, thanks for any replies. According to a post on Roobarbs from the person who did this fix (Handle Mr Sheen, can't remember his real name) it was just before Jamie & Jacko make a dash for the secret passage. It is a shot of Jacko. I hope he doesn't mind me quoting details from there. "I reasoned that the shot of Jacko would work because it suggests he's looking for the opportunity to make a dash into the secret passage, which he does moments later. It's actually taken from a two shot with the Overseer who's painted out and the image is zoomed in about 180% and slowed to a out a third normal speed. " Thanks for the info Brian! Will be watching UM again in the very near future & will look out for this bit, when it comes to the part where they're bamboozling the overseer, ready to make for the passage. It's great that the full audio with the visual fix that you mention was done! Thanks again.

[reminds people that this is a forum about missing episodes]
Can we drop the "my favourite era is better than your favourite era, so boo to you" posts, please - you all know where Gallifrey base is... This thread is for discussion of the Underwater Menace DVD.

I enjoy many parts of The Chase, though it can got odd in places. Watching the Chase at the moment and it is truly wonderful. Great script and superb sets and lighting. A great Dalek serial from the mid 60s!

I'll have to compare it to The Keys of Marinus one day, another 6 in 1 story written by Terry Nation.

It's great to see THE UNDERWATER MENACE coming to America this January. I just wish that the BBC had an in-house animation studio so we could see more CLASSIC DOCTOR WHO.
