Not the classic novel but a space adventure made by ITV and shown early on a Friday night. Shown around 1970/1
Ian Hendry was the star and Sancho was played by ....?
This guy always played the "heavy" and was the guy that got burned on the hands in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Anyway, add this one to the missing episodes database.
I loved it but my parents thought it was rubbish then, sometimes,we would get a 2 hour powercut half way thru due to miners/power workers going on strike(a lot) in the early 70,s
Lets here YOUR memories of this one.

...Ronald Lacey. I remember loving Don Quick. I don't believe it ever had a repeat, did it?

Hi All, first time posting on this site for me.
I do remember this series, but more as the concept rather than huge chunks. One scene I certainly do remember is a tag sequence. Ronald Lacey who played Sgt Sam Czopanser, was looking out of the spaceship window and it is lashing down with rain. Cut to a long shot and there's a giant dog - or they've been miniaturised - cocking his leg over them. Very funny to a ten year old. I do remember it being repeated as I wanted to see that particular scene again.
The series ran between 30/10/70-4/12/70 Titles The Benefits of Earth People Isn't Everything The Higher the Fewer The Love Reflector The Quick and the Dead Paradise Destruct

Sadly I think only one episode still exists which is a shame as it was an interesting series.

Well done Alan!!
I found out allabout this "memory" by searching for Ian Hendry on Google.
Bloody shame only one story exists.
I don,t remember seeing any repeats but I do remember the power cuts that ruined my enjoyment of the show.
I think we had a power cut either just before the start or about 3/4 of the way thru.
But I do remember having a good laugh at it.

theme tune is a classic, hear it here tv.cream.org/specialassignments/themes/1.htmMuch as I liked Brookside at the time. I dispaired when an actor of Hendry's calibre turned up in it. After all the marvelous stuff he had done.

It's the first epsisode which exists. Not sure it stands the test of time but I found it rather fun.

Sadly I think only one episode still exists which is a shame as it was an interesting series. Although a second one which didn't fit the description of the existing one was rumoured to have been shown at the NFT. I also read some time back something about a botched transfer of the masters to D3 being the reason for them 'not existing'. It was possibly here?

I also recall an episode I thought had Cheryl Hall (?) (Dr Who - 'Carnival of monsters') in. The aliens were made up similar to the film 'the final programme' (michael moorcock adaption) with gold face make up and leotards. It was a special treat I was allowed to stay up for it, though I think it was at a weekend - Friday?

P.S. not sure but I think the one shown at the NFT may have been 'the love reflector'.

I've heard the story about the transfers being botched. Can anyone confirm it as true? Do the (damaged) quads still survive though? If so, some attempt could be made to recover the episodes. I remember the series well myself; it was one of the first real attempts to present earthy humour in Sci-fi. I do hope copies are out there somewhere as i'd relaay like to see it all again. Someone mentioned Cheryl Hall in a leotard in one episode; possibly this was The Love Reflector - a kind of gentle satire on the flower power generation, which had Anoushka Hempel also dressed up in said fashion (possibly this is who you were thinking of rather than Cheryl Hall?)
Incidentally, I was at the ICA in London for a screening of a surviving episode in the late '80s. I don't have an episode guide to hand to recall the title but it was the one with the windmills. Thorley Waters was one of the guest stars, if that helps.

Interestingly both Thorley Walters and Anouska Hempel were in the 1st episode The Benefits of Earth. Madeline Smith was in The Love Reflector along with Liz Bamber.
