Does anyone know what still exists of the Hancock (ATV) series, and whether there are any plans to release it?

'Hancock' - the 1963 series for ATV - all 13 episodes survive, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a release - not as long as his brother Roger is a live, anyway (and I mean no disrespect, by saying that). However, if you know where to look, 6 of the 13 episodes, are in the public domain!

...or indeed his nephew (and Roger's son) Tim who holds the same view as Roger about this series.

I know of "The Assistant", "The Man On The Corner", "The Craftsman", "The Night Out" and "The Writer" - what's the other one on the loose?

Shooting Star: A film director, looking for 'realism' by hiring non-professional actors, gives Hancock a part in a film. Instead of realism, he gets incompetence.

Aren't these available to view via joining the Tony Hancock appreciation society? I seem to think there was an episode from this series with Dennis Price as a snooty doctor. Does this one survive (I don't know the title)?

Yes. It was stated above that all 13 eps survive. What about the 1956 ITV series mentioned in the '25 years of ITV' book ? Don't know much about this.

Jack Hylton Presents "The Tony Hancock Show":
BTW, episode 4, from series 1, is doing the rounds... Or, can be had/borrowed, from the THAS video library, if you're a menber...

And a cracking episode it is too, featuring Denholm Elliott as the director. This is my favourite ATV show of the six in circulation and it's a pity that these six, the only episodes the Hancock estate have allowed to be seen, aren't available on DVD. Patchy they may be, but there are still glimmers of Hancock's magic in all six.

As far as I'm aware, the Hancock estate has nothing to do with the 6 episodes, currently doing the rounds... They have all come out, through the back door, so to speak

I thought the THAS had permission from the Hancock estate to put these in the video library?

Confusion arises over Hancocks ITV work as it's much less known - bar the egg ads - than his BBC shows.
