Food channel seems to be showing a complete BBC 1975 Fanny Craddock series. The blurb mentions Johnnie but he's nowhere to be seen. I seem to recall there are large gaps in her archive; something from the 50s then a jump to the 70s. Is this correct?

I'd like to know myself. I think there's one programme - or possibly more - from about 1969 / 70 on b/w t/r (originally colour); BBC-4 might have repeated a show from this era a few years back (?) but I've seen the titles and a clip in a documentary myself, to know it exists. Wikipedia lists a few of her series but is very patchy and there must be others across the years. Another source gives the following partial list of TV series / appearances (which ties in more with what I remember, although I don't know how much of it survives):
Kitchen Magic (1955) Fanny's Kitchen (1955, 1957, 1961) Chez Bon Viveur (1956) Lucky Dip (1958. A children's entertainment TV series, she and Johnny appeared as the cookery experts) Happy Cooking (1961 - 1963, a regular spot on the children's programme called "Tuesday Rendezvous") The Cradocks (1962) Giving A Dinner Party (1969) Fanny Cradock Invites (1970) Score with the Scaffold (1970, Fanny and Johnny appeared in episode #1.9) The Generation Game (1971, Fanny appeared on this game show on 30 October 1971) Cradock Cooks for Christmas (1975) Wogan (Fanny appeared as a guest on Terry Wogan's Saturday evening chatshows on 9 August 1986)

Youtube's got a BBC 4 repeat of 'Adventurous Cooking: Fish' from 1966 www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOozP9eBRHY Parkinson in 1972,TV A.M. in 1985,both online as are 'Cooks for Christmas' again from BBC 4,where the 1970 show is 'Fanny Craddock Invites You To...' which sounds like something from 'Round the Horne'!

I remember that series and the theme! Thanks for the added info, John. I thought there had to be more than just the ones I listed. The "...Invites You To..." show was the thing from BBC-4 I was talking about (which I also remember from 1970 - makes me feel old that I can recall both series!).

BBC4 has shown at least once The Big Time where Fanny was over-critical of Gwen Troak & was let go by the BBC.

John, when exactly is the series you mention on? I just searched for Fanny Craddock on my TIVO, and it isn't showing anything.
It would be great to see some different Fanny Craddock programmes, because usually it's the same four that get shown every Christmas

Er... how does IMDB (which is indeed my friend) show when Food channel will be showing it? Nor does it show (IIRC) which series she made still exist and which do not.

If its "Fannies Cooked for Christmas" then unfortunately they've shown that every Christmas for years. Great viewing, but how I'd love to see some different ones. Maybe Phil Morris has found the rest of her programmes in Africa?

The 'Ev' as in Kenny Everett sounds interesting.Honourable mentions for the (regular?) spoofs on radio's 'Round the Horne',and Benny Hill's parody.

Earlier ones were either made in b/w or only exist now in b/w (if they are indeed still complete).

Very pleased to see that another 1966 edition of Adventurous Cooking (Cakes & Puddings) exists in the archives, and on original VT too (as seen in Friday's history of BBC-2 documentary). Not sure if the whole series survives but holdings on Fanny Cradock are looking a bit better than at first thought.
