A heads up as I thought there would be some interest in a Re-showing of the Granada region rock show "So It Goes" from 76 being shown on Sky Arts over the next few weeks. A six part series narrated by the punk poet enjoying something of a renaissance John Cooper Clarke ! The first show features The pistols in Manchester and the Buzzcocks playing "What do I get" live "Great raw performances from the likes of The Jam, Iggy Pop and Elvis Costello are complemented by quirky contextual archive footage from the time and graphics providing information about the songs, the bands and what became of their members" www.sky.com/tv/show/anarchy-in-manchester/article/about

So far, a re-hash of most of the clips we've seen many times before (Buzzcocks/Pistols/Penetration etc) but, there has only been two shows so far. Last week's was notable for showing raw, early footage of The Stranglers live at The Hope & Anchor performing "Something Better Change" with Hugh Cornwell and JJ Burnel both sporting their cock t.shirts. A clip I do believe hasn't been seen since it's original transmission back in 1977.

The Jam from episode one I don't think I've seen before, and the Nick Lowe and Clash from ep2 I'm certain I've not seen before.
And those are just examples, not a full list. Sure, the buzzcocks / Penetration and others have been on before on various clip shows, but so far the presentation is great.
(Didn't need the interruption of Janie Jones for the "Look Mick Hucknell" bit, but never mind)

That's the only problem with these kind of shows, the chatter over a performance. It's great to see these performances especially on better equipment then I had in the 80's when a lot of clips were shown on The Way They Were on channel 4.
Four songs from The Jam performance is on their Complete Jam DVD. Not sure if all four were originally broadcast or not.

Nothing has been rediscovered. All the So It Goes shows survive thankfully.

Do they all exist for certain, Mike? I was always under the impression that much of the first series (which is the one I remember seeing most of at the time) was missing. Just checking for confirmation.

The four songs on the DVD are: Bricks & Mortar Carnaby Street In The City Slow Down Taking My Love adds a fifth song. I can only assume the reason it is left off the DVD is because of the end credits which were pasted over on the Sky Arts broadcast. I assume it's the same with the Revolver footage, 'A' Bomb isn't on the DVD but David Watts is. Now there's another show Sky Arts needs to re-broadcast.

Watching episode three, Magazine was on the only episode of "So it goes" I saw at the time. I wasn't allowed to see the others. Not because I was too young and in bed, but we only had one TV and there was, doubtless, something else Mum and Dad would rather see on the other side.
I only learned comparatively recently that "Make up to break up" was not one of their most well-known l.p. Tracks, but a song that remained unreleased until the deluxe edition of "The Scream"

Okies, I'm no techy but neither am I a technophobe. I'm a reasonably intelligent woman and I've figured out some of what it might mean ... but let's pretend I haven't.
Can someone decipher the Format ID details and the Format type details. I really want to learn.

I always thought All Around The World must have filmed. On The Complete Jam DVD and on Anarchy In Manchester last night Tony Wilson can clearly be heard saying "The Jam at The Circus, their two single hits In The City and Round The World". Great to finally see the footage though.
The film insert held by ITN Source must be listed incorrectly. It also states the TX print of Carnaby Street is incomplete yet it is included in full on The Complete Jam DVD.
