Hi John,
Unfortunately, I can't (yet) answer your question, as 1971 is one of the years that I still have to get a lot of NME's and Disc's for, but I managed to get this info for some other shows that are (not) mentioned in "Lost Shows"...
31/10/70 Anne Nightingale
07/11/70 Richard Barnes
14/11/70 Stanley Unwin
28/11/70 Bobby Bloom
05/12/70 Kes Wyndham,Tony Christie
12/12/70 Labi Siffre
19/12/70 Tin Tin,The Equals
P.S. I will look at 1971 info at the library next week and hopefully find some answers for you.
cheers William

Ev finished it's run with one episode into the new year (2nd January 1971) in the LWT region. Altough, as you say, Anglia seemed to be showing it in March 71, even though they'd kept pace with LWT. I'd recently been compiling some Ev information from the TV Times and newspaper sources, so might as well share it here. It's OCR'd, so excuse any typos.

31-10-70 5.10 New Series Ev KENNY EVERETT THE BEE GEES In this new series, Kenny Everett looks at not only the pop music world but at pretty well everything else. Featured in this programme is the first London appearance of the reformed Bee Gees; a visit to Kenny's ancestral home; a medieval joust and a review of new record releases. As usual Kenny is supported by his wrinkled retainer Crip, and aided by the advice of Granny. 07-11-70 6.15 Ev KENNY EVERETT BRYAN COLVIN GRANNY THUNDERCLAP NEWMAN VANITY FAYRE RICHARD BARNES Railway fans and steam enthusiasts are among Kenny's subjects today. He visits a meeting of the Malden Model Engineering Society, and Richard Barnes takes a trip to the Transport Museum in Clapham to get ideas for his new record Go North. There's music from Thunderclap Newman, and Vanity Fayre and a rundown of the new release. Also featured is escapologist James Crossini. DESIGNER ANDREW GARDNER : DIRECTOR BRUCE GOWERS : PRODUCER BRYAN IZZARD London Weekend Television Production
14-11-70 6.30 Ev KENNY EVERETT DAVE DEE MARJORIE PROOPS STANLEY UNWIN ENA SAGA Kenny has trouble with Dave Dee and the girls; Marjorie Proops descends from the heights of Fleet Street to talk about pop and Ena Baga ascends from the depths of the orchestra pit to talk about being a cinema organist. Stanley Unwin explains all about decimation . er . desecration . . ex, no ... decimalisation. That's it. Add Crisp, Granny, the Royal Raspberry and the Golden Earhok, and the wage is set for some truly lyrical lunacy. That's Ev. DESIGNER ANDREW GARDNER : DIRECTOR *ME GOWERS : PRODUCER BRYAN IZZARD London Weekend Television Production
21-11-70 5.10 Ev KENNY EVERETT Roger Dean The Tremeloes Cyril Fletcher We're off again! Spots in this show include revolutionary new designs for houses; The Tremeloes discussing their forthcoming change of image, and Cyril Fletcher darting in and out to spout his odd odes. And of course, the Royal Raspberry and the Golden Earhole will be awarded, and Kenny will play a host of parts in many film sequences. He was last seen leaving for a wedding, heavily disguised as a wedding photographer-we trust it doesn't ruin out to be a flash in the pan! 05-12-70 Missing Info
12-12-70 5.40 Ev KENNY EVERETT MAURICE WOODRUFF Many viewers have written to ask Kenny where he gets all the jingles that introduce the various parts of the show. In fact, they are made by Kenny in his radio studio which you will remember seeing in the first show of the series. It has everything that a sound broadcasting studio needs - record players, tape machines, cassettes, echo equipment and all the paraphernalia to produce sound tricks, which he makes to order each week. Kenny's visit to the Model Engineering Society in a previous show caused a lot of interest. If you're organising any strange event or happening, to which you think Kenny might like to bring his film unit, write to London Weekend Television, Station House, Harrow Road, Wembley, Middlesex. 19-12-70 5.40 Ev KENNY EVERETT A Programme full of news; some good, some bad ... First the bad...the dangers of smoking. Sir Gerald Nabarro tells about these perils. Then some innocent pop artists will be despatched to the Everett Vile Pile. The good news is that Kenny will be meeting two of the newest pop arrivals, Gilbert O'Sullivan and David Edmunds. Then, of course, there are all the regular features. DESIGNER ANDREW GARDNER : DIRECTOR BRUCE GOWERS: PRODUCER BRYAN IZZARD London Weekend Television Production

02-01-71 5.10 Ev KENNY EVERETT The Skegness Landladies' Lark Ev Takes a Holiday Kenny Everett is taking a holiday at Skegness with some of his friends, some very large dogs and the inevitable camera unit. And, to brighten the long iourney to Lincolnshire with some music, there is singer Charlie Crane, formerly of Amen Corner and Crying Shame What will he find in Skegrsess? Where will he stay? What will he eat? Will he win or lose on the gaming tables? What sort of exciting women will he meet? We predict that he will meet the 28 ladies of The Skegness Landladies' Lark (which includes seven landlords) who are about to go on a tour which begins at Barnsley and, they hope, will lead them to the London Palladium. 1.10X;RAMME ASSOCIATES TANYA BRUCE-LOCKHART, BRIAN KELLY: CAMERAMAN JOHN PIKE: FILM EDITOR KEITH WILKINSON: PRODUCER BRYAN IZZARD London Weekend Television Production

I stand corrected. It was screened on Anglia on the 13/3/71, so was probably one of the earlier episodes from the LWT run?

I'm just running through TX dates now. It appears I was also wrong about Anglia being behind. Not having a good day am I? lol. I've corrected the post above. I'll see if I can work out what went on with Anglia.

It looks as though there were definitely some odd, out of time Ev transmissions on Anglia. As is usually the case, these queries often throw up more questions than answers. Anglia usually followed the London network feed when they weren't doing their own thing and it's something they continued to do throughout the 80s too. However, they kept step with LWT on Ev and subsequently Stewpot in the same 5:10 slot*, but then screened another episode of Stewpot the week after the show finished on LWT. This could be a newspaper misprint though.
I've added a list of LWT and Anglia Ev transmission dates below. It's more than likely that the extra episodes on Anglia in March '71 were repeats from earlier episodes in the series, maybe the October episodes? That would have allowed a gap of six months between the first run and the repeat.
I'll be interested to see what William uncovers after his trip to the library.

This was probably a newspaper mistake, lumping that section of the Anglia schedule in "as London" with Ev going out on Anglia at 5:10 as per the TV Times) *(27/2/71 Anglia continues for one more week than LWT with Stewpot? Possible newspaper error? UPDATE - Just checked, same in TV Times, so must have been correct) 06/03/71 13/03/71 20/03/71 27/03/71

The compilation is all a bit vague really, apart from Pickettywitch at the end performing Baby I Won't Let You Down. It would need some supporting production paperwork to be completely sure, or someone who has a good memory of watching them at the time of transmission. From memory, some of the sections were as follows: Ev on Harrow Road, Wembley, and just outside the Stonebridge Park LWT offices at Station House (Now Wembley Point) putting custard pies in the faces of passers-by to the accompaniment of Rolf Harris' Bluer Than Blue. Ev then custard pies a Rolf cutout in the studio as an award for the worst single ever. Ev in his home radio studio, introducing a short film he made to accompany The Hollies - Gasoline Alley Bred. Ev on a farm yard, accompanied by the song Patches. Ev out in the countryside on a ramble, fascinated by a spider and it's web. Ev explores a brand new Pan-Am Jumbo Jet. There's a film sequence, filming a long-distance lorry driver in a garage to the song Go North by Richard Barnes,(looks like LWT's Wycombe Road, Wembley, O.B garage and studio, where Ev was recorded) Ev features an escapologist in the studio who's dangling upside down. Ev claims he could do it and has a go. It's So Easy by Wishful Thinking plays in the background. I'm sure there's other bits I haven't recalled, but quite a bit of stuff there for now. If anyone else was at the Kaleidoscope screening, feel free to fill in the blanks.

Here's a readers letter from the
Disc and Music Echo dated 14th November 1970
(CONGRATULATIONS to Kenny Everett and his new ITV show "EV." Here's one ex-Radio 1 DJ who's shown he can live without the BBC,unlike the others he left behind. And his cartoon illustration of Vanity Fare's "Carolina's Coming Home," featuring no less than a picture of Radio Caroline itself, was something he'd never have got away with at the BBC. Who said Caroline was forgotten?)

Looks like some items I recalled as 'Kenny Everett explosion' must have been 'EV'. c. Sep - Oct 1970:
'The Hens March' Fairport Convention set to section of experimental film by Ian Emes. This is the same film Filmfinders supplied for OGWT and featured an animated object looking cross between a twirly top and striped circus tent revolving over a film slide of greenery and woods. The same film appears in a few existing 70s OGWT editions.
'Tears of a clown' Smokey Robinson. Set to a film where Everett is dressed Robin Hood style as the Pied Piper. He has pointed boots, a triangular hat and is blowing a tin whistle and skipping through a large park. Behind him is a trail of actors dressed in life size rat costumes in 'Can-can' type formation. They approach a hillock which has a section like a maze enclosed in a railed fence around it. Everett guides them into the maze through visible double gates.
Third memory was Xmas 1970 as recall Dad was putting up lights on our Xmas tree. I thought this was a Saturday. This show featured LABI SIFFRE as guest. Everett is sitting in a black walled studio. On one side was a set of double doors which he would pull open to show CSO'd images of old movies. He would react i.e. if a monster was behind he'd go 'arrgh!' and shut the blinds holding them closed with back turned against it. One image was King Kong from the 30s movie, another a Cyclops monster and a third a preview for a 1930s 'Ben Hur' adaption with Roman soldiers on chariots coming at the screen.
Everett seemed to cross legged on a low chair like beanbag then the camera panned to different part of studio on left where Labi Siffre was sitting on a stool. Siffre wore a silky paisley shirt and had a folk guitar. Track performed was SMILE FOR ME from his debut album.
The same room seemed to crop up again in KENNY EVERETT EXPLOSION c. Mar 1971. Here he had the addition of Crisp the Butler. Crisp would walk on with a metal tray with a small slip of paper on it, bow down and Everett would unfold the paper and read a message from it. Crisp also brought on 'the golden ear award' which was a giant model of an ear painted like the GOLDEN SHOT phones on a stick on a plinth. I was sure I saw this image since the time but can't place where.
